The past month of July was a dynamic one in the European private health care industry. Quirón, the largest private hospital group in Spain, merged with IDCsalud, the leading private healthcare operator. The transaction is expected to be completed before year end and, following the completion of the merger, funds advised by CVC Capital Partners ("CVC") will control the combined group.
The merger of Quirón with IDCsalud is part of a strategy aimed at building one of the leading hospital groups in Europe, capitalizing on the trend of healthcare consolidation in the region. The combined group will operate 80 hospitals, healthcare centers and elderly care homes with over 17,000 employees and more than 7,000 freelance doctors, making it the largest operator in Spain and a top five operator in Europe.
Efron has been working hand in hand with doctors, managers, and administrative staff in the Spanish healthcare industry for over 15 years. As of today, Efron is in the process of developing Casiopea, a state-of-the-art clinical platform for IDC Salud, and the leading Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform in Spain.
